U.S. FDA Food Safety Services

Under the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2011 ("FSMA"), the U.S. FDA introduced new food safety requirements for manufacturers, processors, packers, and holders of food for consumption in the United States.

Both foreign and domestic food facilities must write and implement Food Safety Plans, and importers in the U.S. are responsible for developing Foreign Supplier Verification Programs to verify the proper implementation of these Food Safety Plans. Although many facilities have food safety programs such as HACCP, ISO 22000, or BRC, writing and implementing a FDA Food Safety Plan is a new and different requirement.
